The progressive landlord identified that conservative base-building tenancies do not appeal to all organisations. Furthermore, the landlord wanted to demonstrate creative tenant fitout opportunities within a new and alternative base-building standard. Therefore, the challenge was set to Artillery, to redesign a floor in the existing tower to appeal to smaller nimble clients who are dominating the leasing market at present.

Our brief was to show how an existing building could demonstrate creativity and appeal to organisations such as consultancy firms and technology companies who have indicated they desire more than ceiling grids and static working. A creative, workplace which demonstrates alternative ways of working was the key approach behind the design.

The design was stripped back to expose services, ceilings and floors. Fluid working and zoning of activities were fundamental in this new space. An indigenous printed panel was used within the work zone, while a popular mural artist’s work was featured in the meeting room. Diversity, local content and sustainability also featured.
