TRANSGRID SUBSTATION

HAYMARKET, NSW

$150m 330kv substation project for Transgrid at Haymarket. Consisting of a 3 storey basement with a 2 storey above-ground zinc clad building forming the podium for a future office tower for Transgrid, the substation is one of the largest of its kind in Australia and also the first to use gas cooled transformers. The $130m fitout by Siemens / Enerserve and Toshiba represents state of the art technology in electrical engineering. A most challenging project, the design team coordinated by GroupGSA resolved a whole range of engineering issues such as major floor loading impacts, noise and vibration issues, integration of major heat dissipation and cooling systems, fire safety and fire suppression systems, equipment maintenance and access and cabling issues.
