Kurnell is being reimagined as a world-class coastal destination where nature, culture and community are seamlessly integrated to create a resilient and distinctive place. Developed in close collaboration with our client, the Master Plan establishes a clear long-term vision centred around four complementary precincts, each with its own identity, character and role within the broader destination.

At the heart of the proposal is a vibrant mixed-use centre that acts as the social and commercial focus of the precinct, bringing together retail, hospitality, community uses and public spaces to create an active destination throughout the day and evening. The master plan carefully balances residential growth, including aged care and affordable housing, with tourism, recreation and employment opportunities to support a diverse and sustainable community.

Our approach to community engagement has seamlessly integrated aged care facilities throughout the master plan, affordable housing, and hospitality and commercial amenity. We have seamlessly blended natural elements within and amongst the urban precincts, fortifying north-south connections that enhance connectivity and proximity to nature and ensure a cohesive urban fabric.

An interconnected network of green corridors, public spaces and pedestrian connections reinforces the relationship between the built environment and the surrounding coastal landscape, creating a highly walkable and accessible destination that celebrates Kurnell’s unique environmental setting. The project demonstrates how strategic placemaking, landscape-led urban design and commercial activation can work together to deliver long-term economic, environmental and social outcomes.
