The Centric, Hai Phong
This deliberate low-density approach allows for generous landscaping, green public spaces, and pedestrian-friendly circulation, enhancing the overall experience of place. The layout prioritizes human scale, permeability, and connectivity, making the precinct both inviting and accessible.
The development’s core components include Shoptique units—a refined blend of retail and boutique commercial offerings—and two contemporary commercial service blocks. These are designed with flexible, adaptive floor plates to accommodate a range of businesses, from local entrepreneurs to national brands, all housed within architecturally striking, context-sensitive buildings that activate the public realm and create a lively street experience. The architecture takes cues from the region’s heritage, reinterpreting local motifs in a modern language of clean lines, natural materials, and cultural symbolism.
The urban journey through The Centric begins at the city’s Central Square, which acts as both a gathering place and an urban threshold. From here, the precinct extends towards the new Political-Administrative Center, whose design draws inspiration from the historic trading ships of the Cam River, symbolising commerce, connection, and regional vitality. Adjacent to this is the largest Convention-Performance Center in Northern Vietnam, whose fluid, wave-like architecture evokes the ripples of the sea, paying tribute to Hai Phong’s maritime legacy and its dynamic future.
Overall, The Centric is more than a destination—it’s a visionary urban statement. Designed to foster cultural exchange, economic growth, and civic pride, it offers a rich mix of uses within a sustainably designed, highly legible, and deeply contextual public realm. Through its blend of innovation and tradition, The Centric aims to become not only the heart of Thuy Nguyen, but a model for integrated urban development across Vietnam.
