Uniting engaged GroupGSA’s Architecture and Urban Design team to provide strategic input and create a new vision for their existing Edinglassie retirement living village at Emu Plains, Penrith.

As part of the vision, the new master plan will integrate the existing residential aged care facility and heritage church building, and provide 147 new independent living units for new residents, all whilst navigating complex planning controls with a site specific response that received full endorsement by Penrith Council’s Urban Design Panel.

Focused around a well considered landscape setting, the master plan aims to foster an active and engaging lifestyle for its residents. In addition to a diverse mix of housing to cater for a wide range of retirement needs, including 29 affordable rental housing units, the revitalised village includes a community centre that serves as a hub for social activities, such as group gatherings, fitness classes, educational workshops, and hobby clubs. There are also dedicated spaces for recreational activities, such as walking trails, communal gardens, and outdoor seating areas where residents can enjoy the beautiful surroundings and connect with nature.
