Shi is an architectural professional whose work revolves around design, making, and innovation. Successful project delivery requires thorough and detailed thinking in design, construction, finance, and social study, which fuels his passion for collaborations that extend beyond design into specialised research areas like computational creativity, green buildings, designing for health and well-being, digital construction, and urban science.
Shi has experience in residential, mixed-use, and workspace projects, from DA to construction documentation. He has a strong ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary professionals and stakeholders. Always seeking interdisciplinary, design-led construction innovations, Shi aims to enhance the current industry. After about six years of practice in architecture, he reflects on his role, expressing concern about how architects contribute to the industry.
Despite property development reaching a mature stage, Shi believes the industry hasn’t contributed enough to the goals he values—especially the carbon-neutral goal and community well-being. The industry faces a need for a significant upgrade for the future. Shi cares about creating places that people and communities love, prioritising placemaking over mere aesthetics. For him, property development is a tool to solve practical and financial problems while enhancing the quality of life for communities.
