A new interior design for the popular Burleigh Heads Library

Our objective was not only to create welcoming and comfortable spaces but also to foster a sense of community ownership and comfort.

The City of Gold Coast Council engaged us to upgrade the interior environment of the refurbished 1980s semi-colonial style building.

Despite the constraints of a limited budget, our interior design team has ingeniously maximised the impact, crafting a contemporary internal environment with a vibrant, diverse palette that appeals to a wide demographic and boosts membership.

The palate ’embraced’ the double brick interior walls by repainting them. We highlighted the children and activity area in a contrasting colour and created a community lounge and a flexible program area to leverage the limited space.

The design incorporated materials with patterns that are not just hardwearing but also durable and forgiving of stains, ensuring the longevity of the refurbishment.

All furniture and fixtures are not only child-friendly and readily available from local suppliers but also sustainable, eco-friendly products, a testament to the Council’s and our commitment to the environment and the community.

Our interior design team has ensured the internal environment of the library is stimulating, offers the community flexibility and supports learning, research, discovery, and reflection.

Burleigh Heads Library has a prime location opposite the beach at Burleigh Heads.
