The precinct is vitally important to the commercial and social life of the city of Maribyrnong and has strong and vibrant connections with the Vietnamese community, hence the name.

The Little Saigon Project which forms part of the Little Saigon Precinct Revitalisation project. GroupGSA's role as Architect and Landscape Architect was to create an integrated functional precinct which included a multilevel carpark above of retail space, an urban landscaped open space and the upgrade of surrounding public roads.

The precinct includes the central Footscray are bounded by Hopkins, Donald and Moore Streets and contains a large number of retail and food businesses as well as a residential neighbourhood. GroupGSA worked closely with the Council to design and deliver this important community project.

Council engaged local community artists to prepare the pattern and installations which have been skilfully incorporated into the architectural and landscape response.

The projects consists of conversion of part of the existing on grade carpark to a public square, creation of a rear access laneway along the property, construction of a 4 store building on the reminder of the carpark, with retail uses on the ground floor and four levels of car parking above to for 142 car parks and upgrade of Byron Street road condition between Leeds and Nicholson Streets.
